Tawanka Smith, First Lady

Pastor James E. Smith is a life time resident of Bennettsville, South Carolina. He attended the public schools of Marlboro County and graduated from the Bennettsville High School. He furthered his education at Chesterfield-Marlboro Technical College, Cheraw, South Carolina; graduating with an Associate of Science Degree in Industrial Safety. He later attended and received a certificate from Chesterfield- Marlboro Technical College certifying completion in Criminal Justice. Pastor Smith received his Baccalaureate Degree in Human Service from Gardner –Webb University, Boiling Springs, North Carolina. He has a certificate of religious studies from The Voice of Prophecy Theological Center, Los Angeles, California; He has studied at Liberty University Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, Virginia and is currently pursuing a Masters of Ministry Degree at Anderson University Theological Seminary, Anderson South Carolina.

Pastor Smith is The Senior Pastor at the Greater St. James Missionary Baptist Church Bennettsville, South Carolina. His belief is that the primary witness of the church is to tell somebody about Jesus.

 

Pastor Smith has been married to the former Tawanka M. McRae for 35 years. They are the proud parents of three wonderful children Marlon, Croshanda, and Kendrick. They also have four beautiful grandchildren Jamaiya Marlon Jr. Cazauria and Nariah.

Pastor Smith is a member of the E& M State convention, Progressive National Baptist Convention Inc. Berea Missionary Baptist Association and the Pee Dee Union. He also serves as a volunteer chaplain for Agape Hospice. Pastor Smith is president of The Marlboro County Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance. He also holds membership in the Pee Dee Association and South Carolina State Brotherhood Fellowship Ministry. He is a 32 degree master mason and a member of the Ancient Arabic Egyptian order of the Noble Mystic Shrine, Past Worshipful Master of Landmark Lodge # 16 and Past Special Deputy of Marlboro County, and Past Associate Patron OES Queen of Sheba Chapter #5. He is also a member of The Illustrious Omega Psi Phi Fraternity INC. and the NAACP and many other professional organizations.

 

Pastor Smith is very active in the Community of Bennettsville and Marlboro County. He is very active in supporting our public schools by lending his time and assistance to whatever their needs are. He is a member of many other local, state, and national organizations.
